Theodore “Ted” Loomis Miller, age 94, of Phoenixville, PA, formerly of Wayne, PA, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2022. Born in Williamsport, PA, he was the son of the late Theodore Davenport and Alice Ethel Miller (nee Holzmueller).
Ted graduated from Upper Darby High School and then served a short time in the United States Army during World War II. He went on to earn his B.A. at Dickinson College where he was the Captain of the Men's Swim Team.
Ted built a successful insurance and financial services agency in Wayne for 60 years. He thoroughly enjoyed taking care of his clients and working with his agents. When not working, Ted would be fishing, camping, hunting, traveling, splitting wood, playing cards, cooking, sharing garden vegetables with or snowblowing out his neighbors, doing word search and jumble puzzles, visiting his children, or working out with his Bryn Mawr cardiac rehab buddies. He savored spending time at his farm in Vermont and appreciated a big bowl of popcorn, picking crabs with a cold beer, a good hotdog, or a fine glass of Bourbon. He always had a good joke to share with others.
Ted was the loving husband of the late Catherine Miller (nee Black) for 54 wonderful years; loving father of Jon Clift Miller (Melanie Barnett Miller) of Rockledge, FL, Patricia Miller Picardi (Kenneth Picardi) of Pottstown, PA, June A. Amarant (Ronald Amarant) of West Chester, PA, and Mark Loomis Miller (Kathleen O’Rourke Miller) of Victoria, MN; caring grandfather of Devin Miller Picardi (Mia DeLucco Picardi), Alec Picardi (Avery Shumaker Picardi), Julia Amarant, William Amarant, Caroline Amarant, Morgan Miller, Marissa Miller, Evan Miller, Griffin Miller, and Logan Miller; adoring great-grandfather of Ella Picardi; devoted brother of Ann McCahan of Plymouth, NH. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Ted’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, June 6 at 11:00 AM at Wayne Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Wayne Presbyterian Endowment Fund, 125 E. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087 or American Heart Association, 1617 John F. Kennedy Blvd. Suite 700, Philadelphia, PA 19103, www.heart.org, would be appreciated.
Ted’s family extends their appreciation for the care he received at Brandywine Living in Phoenixville for the past three years and for the additional recent care by the Kindred Hospice team.
