Theresa M. McGinnis

Theresa M. McGinnis, 91, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away July 9, 2022. 

Born August 29, 1930 in Holyoke, MA, she was the youngest of 8 surviving children of the late Patrick J. and Ellen (nee Sullivan) Mulvaney. 

A first generation American, Theresa was fiercely proud of her Irish heritage. She attended public schools in Holyoke and worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone before marrying and moving to East Lansdowne, PA. She spent many hours volunteering at Monsignor Bonner High School, Fitzgerald Hospital, and Delaware County Hospital.

Theresa was a lifelong parishioner of St. Cyril of Alexandria in East Lansdowne and St. Anastasia in Newtown Square. She was an avid Phillies and Villanova Basketball fan and loved doing jigsaw puzzles, saying the rosary, voting, and talking on the phone to her many loving family members. She was quiet and private but had a fierce wit. She was strong, a breast cancer survivor, and lived independently until her death. 

Theresa was the beloved wife of the late William C. McGinnis; loving mother of William C. McGinnis II (Susan Payne), Ellen Guinan (Maurice), Kevin McGinnis, Patrick McGinnis, Theresa Walsh (Brian), and Larry McGinnis (Wendy); adoring grandmother of 11 and great-grandmother of 6. She was predeceased by her 7 siblings, who affectionately called her “Goldie.”

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 14, 2022 at The Donohue Funeral Home, West Chester Location at 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by her Prayer Service at 10:30 AM. Interment is at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
