Thomas M. Burns, affectionately known as Tom or Bugsy, passed away on April 1, 2025, at the age of 68.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late William (Tom) and Sybil (née Edgar) Burns.
Tom was a devoted family man and a respected professional in the steel manufacturing industry, employed as a salesman with O'Rourke & Sons, Inc. His career was marked by a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence that earned him the admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
Tom was not just defined by his profession; he was a passionate individual who embraced life to the fullest. He found joy in a variety of pursuits, most notably fishing, golfing, and spending time at the beach. His love for grilling and cooking was no secret, as he often delighted friends and family with delicious meals prepared with care and enthusiasm.
A true sports aficionado, Tom was an ardent supporter of all Philadelphia sports teams, with a particular fondness for the Eagles and the Phillies. This commitment to teamwork extended beyond mere fanfare; Tom dedicated significant time to coaching younger generations. He served as a Broomall Little League coach, as well as coaching in the Babe Ruth League and St. Kevin's Football program. His involvement with the Church of the Nazarene softball team demonstrated his dedication to fostering community and encouraging sportsmanship among young players.
Tom was the beloved husband of Roxanne (née SanFelice) Burns; the loving father of Ashley Burns and Thomas “TJ” Burns (Emily); the proud and caring grandfather of Cooper West and Cole West. He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Burns Horowitz (Matt), Anna Iverson (Paul), Eileen Burns, and Regina Burns Stover. He was the loving uncle to many nieces and nephews, as well as his extended family and dear friends. Tom will be greeted in heaven by his parents and sisters, Sybil Warrington and Christine Burnett.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tom’s life at his Visitation on April 8, 2025, 9:00 to 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA 19008, followed by his Funeral Mass, 10:00 AM. Interment will be held privately.
