Thomas Gionta

March 21, 1946 — November 9, 2017

Thomas A. Gionta, age 71, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on November 9, 2017. Born on March 21, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Guido and Caroline Gionta (nee Allegra).



Thomas is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carole A Gionta (nee Ogden), his children Amy Gionta Gravlin (Thomas), of New Albany, OH and AnnMarie Barta (Brandon), of Rocky River, OH, his brother, Ronald L. Gionta (Mary) of Springfield, PA, his grandchildren Evelyn, Roxanne, Emerson, Brody and Avery and his nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.



Thomas was raised in Lansdowne, PA and graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School. He attended Villanova University and graduated with his Bachelor's Degree of Mechanical Engineering (Cum Laude) in 1968. In addition, he received his Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.



He spent the latter half of his career as a Vice President of Engineering, designing medical and household safety equipment. He concluded his career with his dream job as a golf starter where he could enjoy every day on the courses. Thomas had many interests; he was an dedicated golfer, avid fisherman, passionate photographer, and devoted Husband, Dad, and Pop Pop.



Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Saturday, December 2, 2017 9:00-10:00 AM St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA and to his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
