Thomas "Tom" R. Koch, Sr.

Thomas R. “Tom” Koch, Sr., age 65, of Garnet Valley, PA, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2023.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Paul B. and Ruth (née Gilliam) Koch.

Tom was employed as the Director of Maintenance of St. Ignatius Nursing Rehabilitation Center, and won the Leading Age award during his time there in 2018.  He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. Tom enjoyed gardening, fishing and really enjoyed the years spent camping with his family, sitting around that campfire at night telling scary stories to the kids. Talked a lot about the years he spent growing up every summer in Ocean City NJ.  He loved a good party! Christmas was his favorite Holiday, loved dressing up as Santa. Of course he was a Phillies fan and loved the Eagles Games.

For thirty-seven years, Tom was the beloved and caring husband to Diane M. (née Mitchell) Koch; the loving father of Richard M. Koch (Jamie), Christopher M. Koch (Lori), and Thomas R. Koch, Jr. (Lucy). He was the proud grandfather of Morgan Kelly Koch, Blake Mitchell Koch, Bryce Walker Koch, Christopher M. Koch, Jr., Colette Harper Koch, Cadence Marie Koch, Christopher Mendez, Camryn Mendez, Carter Duppel, and Cayleigh Duppel, Thomas R. Koch, III (Trey), Mack Francis Koch,  He is also survived by his brothers, Wayne Koch (Marylou) and Richard Koch (Lucy) and his many nieces and nephews.  Tom was predeceased by his brothers, Paul Koch, John Koch, and Robert Koch.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing, Sunday evening, July 30, 2023, 6:00 – 8:00 PM and on Monday morning, July 31, 2023, 9:00 – 10:00 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA  19073, 610-353-6300, followed by his Funeral Mass, 10:30 AM at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA.  Interment St. Denis Cemetery, Havertown, PA.
