Ty Thi Nguyen, 97, of West Chester, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 3, 2015.
Born in 1918 in Nam Dinh, Vietnam, she was the daughter of the late Gai Thi Vu and Phuong Van Nguyen.
A devout Catholic, Ty would go to daily mass and pray countless rosaries. In any given opportunity, she would encourage others to do the same. She lived a very simple life, and put all her energy and love for her family. She was never absent from the graduations and the sacraments of any grandchildren. Ty enjoyed going on religious pilgrimages with her family, especially the annual Marian Days festival in Missouri. She was an active member of the Vietnamese prayer group and the Vietnamese community. Ty always had a positive attitude and never complained despite the many hardships she endured including fleeing her war torn country and coming to America for religious freedom and better opportunities for her posterity. She truly believed everything was a blessing from God.
Ty was predeceased by her husband Tien V. Nguyen and her sons Hung V. Nguyen and Dung V. Nguyen; she is survived by her sister Chi T. Nguyen of Stanton, CA, and her children Hai V. Nguyen of West Chester, PA, Cat V. Nguyen of West Chester, PA, Hoa T. Nguyen of Houston, TX, Thiet V. Nguyen of Alpharetta, GA, Phuong T. Nguyen of East Lyme, CT, and Tuan D. Nguyen of Augusta, GA.
