V. Eugene Pertchack, 88, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away on September 21, 2018.

Born in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Nellie (nee Grehawick) Pertchack.

Eugene was a veteran of the Naval Reserve and a Korean Era Army vet.

Eugene spent his working career in public service. He started as a teacher in Chester, PA and then moved on to the Marple Newtown School District where he was a principal for over 32 years. After retiring from education, he spent 10 years working for the Chester County Library system.

He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Lou (nee Ammon) Pertchack, the loving father of Mary Jean Compton (Robert) and Peg Mullner (Mark); adoring Pop-Pop of Mary Beth, Scott, Carl, Michelle, Ryan, and Alan. He is also survived by his 4 great grandchildren, Mary Louisa, Elizabeth, Owen and Heidi.

Eugene was a man of great faith and served as an usher at his parish.

He especially loved spending time with his family and friends, listening to oldies music, tuning in to vintage TV programs and watching the wildlife in his yard. He enjoyed traveling about and finding unique eateries. He made annual treks to favorite mid-Atlantic fishing spots with his lighthouse crew and was an avid sports fan.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00- 10:50 AM Saturday, September 29, 2018 at SS. Simon and Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct., West Chester, PA 19382, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
