Victor Barcena Saquing, 69, of Phoenixville, PA passed away on September 26, 2016.
Born in 1947 in Manila, Philippines, Vic was the son of the late Angel and Juanita (Barcena) Saquing.
He graduated from University of the East, Philippines in 1967 with a degree in Accounting, which he practiced for over 40 years.
Vic was the beloved husband of Lilian (Marayag) Saquing; loving father of Lillian Cook (and her husband, Jaime), Loretto Seles (and her husband, Andrew) and Ligja Gill (and her husband, Kamraan); adoring grandfather of James Victor, Julia and Scout; dear brother of Angie Gincel, Carmen Garcia, Susie Gincel, Ella Ventura, Zennie Saquing and Nestor Saquing; and treasured uncle, cousin, godfather, and friend to countless other loved ones.
Vic will be remembered for his quick wit, fun-loving nature, and devotion to his family, always putting their needs above his own. He enjoyed nothing more than a weekend drive with his girls to sights off the beaten path and then later retracing the route on the map. An introspective man, his favorite activities were those that allowed long periods of quiet rumination. To everyone's benefit, this included cooking delectable dishes. Words cannot express how much he, and his Christmas Soup, will be missed.
In 2015, he took a month-long trip back to the Philippines, only his second since immigrating to the US in 1990. On this trip, Vic visited all his old haunts, from the bank where he worked for many years, to the house he designed and built for his family in undeveloped mountain country, going all the way back to his own childhood home and neighborhood in Manila. This homecoming brought him great joy and peace, apparent in his eyes and smile when recounting his tales.
There will be a private Visitation at 1:00-2:30 PM on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 43 W Lancaster Ave, Downingtown, PA 19335, 610-269-3080. (Parking is provided across the street.)
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Vic's name to the Philippine Red Cross (www.redcross.org.ph/).
