Vincent P. Varallo, Jr., passed peacefully in his home a few days after his 79th birthday on September 8, 2015. Vincent, the oldest son of Vincent Varallo, Sr. and Susan Jackson, nee Ping, was a man of quiet determination, devoted to his family and fiercely independent, refusing to succumb to Parkinson's disease until the very end of his life.
In addition to raising three children, he served as an official reporter in the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County and, upon his father's passing, left official service to build the successful freelance court reporting business founded by his father which eventually operated from offices in Philadelphia, Media and West Chester, PA. Over the course of almost 40 years in court reporting, Vincent trained and mentored many court reporters and worked side by side with the very best. Upon his retirement he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Pennsylvania Court Reporters Association, as well as an honorary degree in court reporting from Orleans Technical Institute. He was a founding member of GRACE, a charitable foundation supporting inner city children.
Vincent was survived by his wife Denise, children Greg and his wife Catherine, Diane Varallo-Kushmir and her husband Rafi, Ken and his wife Margie, grandchildren Danielle, Peter, Michael, Jeffrey, David, great granddaughter Kaylee Varallo, stepsons Jason Smith and Evan Grammenos and brothers Dale Varallo and Scott Ping. His first wife Connie pre-deceased him.
