Violet McGeever

Violet A. McGeever (nee Zelonis), of Havertown, PA, passed away peacefully on the 11th day of January, 2021 at age 101. She was the beloved wife of the late John (Jack) McGeever, and  mother of Mary Gilfedder (Mike), Patricia, Joseph (Sondra), Theresa O’Brien (Bill), Anne Van Zandt (Dennis), Terrence (Cindy), Paul (Karen), John (Cathy), Rita, Edward (Mary Ann) and the late Michael; also survived by fifteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, her niece, Rose Ellen Mundy and many other relatives.

Violet was kind, generous, and soft-spoken and dedicated to providing love, comfort and care to her extended family. She remained calm and at peace during the most trying of times and truly had the patience of a saint.  Born in the “coal country” of Schuylkill County, in 1919, Violet was the daughter of Lithuanian immigrants, Adolph & Rose (Weiksner) Zelonis, who realized the American dream of owning a business and sending their children to college.  Violet received her degree from Drexel Institute of Technology, now Drexel University, in 1941.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on January 19, 9:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church on Manoa Road in Havertown, where Violet was a parishioner for more than 70 years.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M.   Interment will follow at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. Masks are to be worn to her Visitation, Funeral Mass and Cemetery.   Social Distancing is to be observed.

Violet is preceded in death by her brother, Eddie Zelonis and his wife, Rose, and by her sister, Jennie Zelonis.  She will be deeply missed by her adoring family and devoted neighbors and friends.
