Virginia Ellen Wheatcroft Auer died July 30, 2014 with Scott, her husband of 32 years by her side.
Virginia was born 19 November 1949 in Wilmington, Delaware to
parents Robert Wheatcroft & Marjorie (Prack) Wheatcroft.
Named for her maternal grandmother: Elleanor Virginia (Long) Prack and her mother, Marjorie Ellen.
Virginia grew up in the Wilmington where her father worked for DuPont Chemical Co., and her mother was a homemaker. A younger sister (Valerie) and brother (Robert) were born in 1951 and 1959, respectively.
She graduated from the University of Delaware in 1971 with a degree in Fashion & Apparel Studies (textiles) and moved to Atlanta, GA where she worked in the clothing retail business starting at Davison's Department Store. [Note her great grandfather John Lindsay Long was "in" clothing retail as well, owning a Men's Haberdashery in Ben Avon, PA in the early 20th century]. Over the next 15+ years Virginia worked in the retail/fashion industry in Atlanta and New York City.
She is survived by her son Chris of Baltimore, MD; son Colin and his wife Ashley of Atlanta, GA; brother Robert, his wife Christine and their daughters Tess and Audrey of Corvalis, OR; sister Valerie Dowtin of Great Falls, MT; sister-in-law Claudia Auer Silverang, her husband Kevin of Berwyn, PA and their daughter Leigh and husband Joseph; and father-in-law Charles Auer and his wife Jane of West Chester, PA.
An open house will be held on Saturday, August 2, 12:00-3:00 p.m. at the home of Scott and Virginia at 1690 Yardley Dr., West Chester, PA.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 9 at the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church Activities Center Chapel located at 85 Mt. Vernon Hwy NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 404-255-1181. Visitation from 11:00 to noon with Memorial Service at noon.
