Virginia Custer

May 7, 1922 — July 11, 2013

Virginia G. Custer (nee Deily), age 91, of West Brandywine, PA, passed away on July 11, 2013 at Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville, PA. Born in Coopersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Estelle G. Deily (nee Greene).



Virginia formerly resided in Hershey's Mill in West Chester, PA and Pitman, NJ. She attended Business School and Airline School. She was employed as an airline stewardess for United Airlines from 1944-1947. Virginia was one of the first women in Gloucester County to become a real estate broker. She was in the real estate business for 30 years.



She was a member of the 9 Holers Club in Hershey's Mill and a member of the Women's Kiwanis Club. She was a former deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Pitman, NJ. She enjoyed quilt making and also counted cross-stitch. She wrote a book entitled "In The Round Tower of My Heart."



Virginia is survived by her daughter Diane Hernandez of Pitman, NJ, her sister Jackie Olmsted of Boulder, CO, her brother Jerry Deily of Charlottesville, VA and many nieces and nephws. She was predeceased by her husband Harry Custer.



In lieu of flowers, donations to Life Styles Supports, Inc. a non-profit for adults with developmental disabilities, 646 Delsea Drive, Pitman, NJ 08071 or Berks County Humane Society, 1801 N. 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604 would be appreciated.



Services and Interment will be held at a later date at Freedom Village in West Brandywine, PA.
