Virginia M. Meehan (nee McGrail), age 88, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away on June 2, 2019.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas P. and Mary A. (nee Bergan) McGrail.
Virginia was the loving mother of Michael H. Meehan, Jr. (Starr), Virginia M. Hegarty (Fiancé, John), Tommy Meehan (Roseanna), Carolyn M. Furia (Bob), Rosemary M. Hilsey (Michael), Anne C. Schenk (Brian), Tricia M. Canale (Rich) and the late Susan Meehan; the devoted grandmother of 20 and greatgrandmother of 5.
She is predeceased by Michael H. Meehan, Sr. and her sisters, Peggy Sheehan and Ceal Gallagher. Virginia honored her father's legacy by becoming a dual citizen of Ireland.
On June 2, Mom's children gathered at 5:30 AM around her hospital bed to attend a televised Mass together. While not conscious, our Mom was still with us at Mass and we, of course, all believe she was present. As the Mass ended, our Mom began her next journey as she passed from her time here on earth to her heavenly reward.
Mom's last words to us and her grandchildren the previous evening were "I love you all".
She leaves such a wonderful legacy.
All are invited to celebrate her life with a Mass, Wednesday, June 12, 2019, 10:00 AM, at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Sq. PA.
Interment private. At our Mom's request, there will be no visitation/viewing and no flowers at the Church.
Inspired by our Mom's love of children and family, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to your local Children's Hospital.
