Walter V. Rakitsky, age 91, of Broomall PA, passed away on February 16th, 2023.
He was the son of the late Dimitri James Rakitsky and Bronislava (nèe Granos) Rakitsky.
Walter was the beloved husband to the late Ann T. (nèe Tripodi) Rakitsky. He also had one older brother, the late Joseph Rakitsky.
Walter is survived by his loving children James (Kathy), and Walter (Dana). He was a devoted grandfather to Jimmy and Alex, and great grandfather to Emery Grace and Caden James.
Walter was a high school graduate who was a union carpenter and worked for Local 845 for over 30 years and during that time remodeled and greatly expanded his own house. In his retirement years, he helped family members with renovations to their homes.
Besides working on home renovations, which was his passion, his favorite hobby was model railroading. He thoroughly enjoyed running his trains for family and neighborhood children. He also liked to watch and talk about sports, especially the Phillies and Eagles.
Walter was not only a hard worker but a loving family man to his immediate and extended family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and Friends are invited to his Viewing Friday, February 24, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. A brief Catholic Service will immediately follow the viewing at 11:00 AM that will also be held at the Funeral Home. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
