Watson Goldhorn, Jr.

November 1, 1929 — February 11, 2019

Watson Thompson Goldhorn, Jr. "Goldie" of Newtown Square and formally Drexel Hill, PA, age 89 passed away on February 11, 2019 at home with his wife, Joan of 64 years and his family by his side after succumbing to his multiyear battle with dementia.

Watson was born on November 1, 1929 in South West Philadelphia.

He graduated from John Bartram High School and then joined the Air Force in 1948, serving for 4 years. He was stationed at Fort Warren Air Force Base Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was a staff sergeant and communications and climbing school teacher.

After the service he joined Local Union 98 where he received a 65-year pin. He worked alongside his father until his father's retirement in 1967 and then moved on as a supervisor.

He married the love of his life Joan Elizabeth Wallace of South Philadelphia in 1955 and they had six children; Donna, Tom, Janice, Jim, Bob and Suzy.

In 1985, Watson established Goldhorn Electrical Construction with his three sons. In the early years, his wife worked as his secretary while caring for their grandchildren. With all of their help his endeavor was successful.

Watson enjoyed spending time with his 19 grandchildren and his 7 great grandchildren.

He loved his time down in Sea Isle City in the summers and his trips to Florida in the winters.

He was always available to help anyone with any problems they had and loved being a helping hand.

Watson was preceded by his Father, Watson Thompson Goldhorn Sr., his mother Bernadine Pratalingo Goldhorn, and his two sisters Phyllis Goodman and Bertha Noble.

He was the beloved husband, for 64 years, of Joan (Wallace) Goldhorn; loving father of Donna Goldhorn (Bob German), Thomas (Kim), Janice Goldhorn-Geraghty (Jim), James (Margaret), Robert (Mary Jo) and Suzanne Zampino (Michael); devoted grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by all.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday, February 16, 2019 at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 3500 School Lane, Drexel Hill, PA 19026 followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
