Wendy Rothenberger

March 6, 1968 — February 1, 2020

Wendy L. Rothenberger of Chesterbrook, PA entered God’s embrace on February 1, 2020.  She was 51 years old.   She is survived by her mother, Joyce (Bauman) Rothenberger; siblings Creighton Rothenberger, Michele Weitzenkorn, Lisa Rothenberger-Winter and her husband, Roy Winter; and nephews Alex Weitzenkorn and Austin Weitzenkorn. She was predeceased by her father, George Rothenberger.  Wendy was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend and colleague.

Wendy graduated from Boyertown High School in 1986 and earned a BS in International Relations in 1990 from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, PA.  Her professional career was dedicated to providing human resources executive leadership for faith-based non-profit organizations.  She served with the American Baptist Churches USA (ABCUSA), Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) and most recently Lutheran World Relief/IMA World Health (LWR/IMA) where she was the Vice President of the President’s Office of LWR/IMA.

Wendy enjoyed international travel, which was an important part of her personal and professional life.  Her passion was to work toward a world in which every person, every community, and all generations live with justice, dignity and peace.  She had the opportunity to travel to over 30 countries and enjoyed each one.  Wendy was also an avid reader. Most of all, she simply enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Wendy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013.  She deeply appreciated all the care and love provided by the medical professionals at Bryn Mawr Medical Specialists Hematology-Oncology Department.  Her care team became another extension of her family.  With the support of family, friends, colleagues, and medical team, she beat cancer for over 7 years by continuing to live a full and wonderful life!

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Lutheran World Relief (700 Light Street, Baltimore, MD 21230) or Unite for Her (127 East Chestnut Street, West Chester, PA 19380)

A private Celebration of Life gathering will be held on February 16, 2020.
