William “Bill” J. Becht, Sr., formerly of Clifton Heights, has sadly passed away at the age of 69 in Havertown, PA, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 20, 1955 to the late William D. Becht and the late Eleanor A. Becht, Bill attended Upper Darby High School where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors.
In his youth, Bill was active in Scouts – becoming a camp counselor for Resica Falls Scout Reservation in the Poconos and establishing a troop for boys with special needs alongside his father. He proudly guided his sons through their own scout journeys.
Bill's impact on his community was profound as he established St. Brigid Press in Clifton Heights, where he assisted numerous local Delaware County businesses and nonprofits in reaching out to the community. His commitment and passion for his work will be remembered by all those whose lives he touched.
Bill was a family man at heart. He cherished the holidays, especially when baking cookies and treats, and always found joy in spending quality time with his loved ones. His warm and generous personality shone through in every interaction, as he was always grateful for the people who enriched his life. Bill truly invited the world into his heart, unconditionally.
Bill's memory will be forever cherished by his surviving family and friends. He is survived by his loving children, Colleen M. Becht-Foltz (Dan Foltz), William Becht, Jr. (Heidi), Ian Bainbridge (Ashley Wade), Emily Bainbridge (Kevin Alfieri); Grandchildren, Logan Foltz, Madeline Becht, Benjamin Becht, and Arlo Bainbridge; Siblings, June Becht, Kimberly Miller (Ed Miller), and Charles Becht (Rebecca); Nephews, Ed Miller and Brian Fritzinger and families. He is also survived by his dear companion Etta DiMarco and her children, Colleen Ferraro (Fred), Dennis DiMarco (Debbie), Erica Discher (Greg), Etta Maria DiMarco and Etta's granddaughter Nellie Ferraro. Bill was predeceased by his devoted wife Theresa (nee Young) Becht.
A man who found solace in the ocean and had a deep appreciation for the Jersey Shore, Bill lived life to the fullest and embraced the simple joys it had to offer. His presence will be sorely missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
