William J. "Bill" Ganley, 3rd, age 78, of Drexel Hill, PA, formerly of the Westbrook Park section of Upper Darby, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2022, after a long battle with kidney disease. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late William J. Ganley, Jr. and Esther S. Ganley (nee Schroyer).
Bill was a graduate of St. Thomas More High School in Philadelphia. He received his Bachelor's Degree from LaSalle College. Bill was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He had been employed as a Manager in the Insurance industry.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Maureen Ganley (nee Summers). Loving father of William A. Ganley (Kelly), Brian Ganley (Kimberly), Beth Gowie (William), Daniel R. Ganley (Kristen) and Caitlin Ganley (Fiance Michael Puppio). Dear grandfather of Brianna, Carly, Jackson, Colin, Sydney, Connor, Hayden, Colton, Luke, Liam and Fiona. Brother of David Ganley (Paula) and Dr. Mary Patricia Ganley (Kathy).
Bill loved spending time with his family, traveling with his wife to Europe, Alaska, and his favorite cities of Charleston and San Francisco. He loved spending summers in Avalon and smoking cigars with the kids on the porch, days on the Wildwood boardwalk and riding the Strasburg train with his kids and grandkids.
Bill spent years coaching all his children in baseball and softball and stood on the sidelines watching his grandkids. Bill served on the board of the Westbrook Park Boys club and as a board member was instrumental in changing the name to the Westbrook Park Youth Association, so it was inclusive of both boys and girls.
Bill was an avid reader and shared his love of Harry Chapin with all his children.
Bill just celebrated his 52nd wedding anniversary on June 13th with the love of his life, Maureen. They made it through all the highs and lows of life from the Vietnam War, the loss of parents and family to the joyous birth of 5 children and 11 grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all that loved him.
