William Hodgson, Sr.

William W. Hodgson, Sr., 89, of West Chester, PA, formerly of Lower Merion, passed away on June 28, 2015 at Wellington Hall in West Chester, PA.
Born in Miami Beach, FL in 1926, William was the beloved son of the late Royden and Elizabeth (Chalmers) Hodgson.
He was the beloved husband of Ruth E. (Ezekiel) Hodgson; loving father of Bill Hodgson Jr. (Pam Hardy), John Hodgson (Cecelia), Craig Hodgson (Christine) and the late James A. "Jay" Hodgson; loving grandfather of Christine, Corinne, Gregory, John, Caitlin, Georgia, Jamie and great-grandson, Jackson; dear brother of the late Elizabeth Howland.
After serving honorably in the US Army during World War II, William (or Bill as he was commonly referred to) attended the University of Georgia and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism. But his real passion turned out to be sales and the science of baking as he had a long, prosperous career selling ingredients and providing consulting services to some of the largest bakeries in the country. Bill was a member of the American Bakers Association and the American Society of Baking where he was inducted as a 50-year member in 2009.
Bill's professional achievements were exceeded only by his personal dedication to family and friends. Known for his great sense of humor and an honest, genuine care for people, Bill went out of his way to help others time and again, and made a lasting, memorable impression on everyone he met. He leaves a wife of 61 years with whom his love and commitment were stronger than the day they married.

11:45 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, followed immediately by his Funeral Service 12:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 West Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester, PA 19382. Interment at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Ronald McDonald House, 3925 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
