William V. Joy II

William “Bill” V. Joy II, 88, of Media, PA and formerly of Drexel Hill, PA passed away on November 9, 2022.

Born in County Kerry, Ireland in 1934, he was the beloved son of the late William V. and Mary (née Mangan) Joy.

Bill was the loving husband of the late Bridget “Bridie” Joy (née McEnroe); loving father of William V. Joy III (Donna), Kevin G. Joy (Kim) and the late Ann Marie Curay; proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; dear brother of Judy Foley. He was predeceased by his siblings; Kathleen Coleman, Maureen Ryan, Eugene (Anna), Morris (Kay), John (Gail) and Margaret Lumby (Basil).

Bill graduated from Clongowes Wood College in County Kildare Ireland. While attending there, he was on the Rugby and Cricket teams.

At the age of 18, Bill decided to leave Ireland and come to America. Not long after arriving in America, he met the love of his life Bridie at an Irish dance. They were married for 60 years. Bill’s greatest pride was his children and grandchildren. If there was a  school event, ball game or even a ballet recital Bill and Bridie were always front and center beaming with pride. He enjoyed golf and bowling.

Bill served honorably in the US Army. He worked for over 40 years as an Account Executive at Mather & Company Insurance of Philadelphia.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing 9:00-10:00 AM Monday, November 14, 2022 and to his Funeral Mass 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Rd, Broomall, PA 19008. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
