William “Bill” Michael Lynch, 75, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family on August 16, 2022. Even with cancer, he always maintained his goodwill, dignity and grace.
In addition to his parents, John “Jack” and Jean (nee Mouyios) Lynch, Bill was predeceased by his younger brother Dan. He is survived by his loving wife, Dana (nee Benjamin), children Sean (Dahvia), Karen, Andrew (Caitlyn), and Madalyn (Alex); grandchildren Charlotte, Claire, Robert William, and Emily; his loving siblings, Jack (Peggy), Carol (John), Tom (Jean), Mark (Andrea), Lore (Bob), Chris (Dan), and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will all miss him dearly.
Born in Rockville Center, NY in 1947, Bill attended St. Brigid Catholic School (Westbury, NY) and Carle Place High School (NY) before moving on to Dwight Preparatory School (NY) and graduating from Lehigh University. With a Business degree, Bill embarked on an extensive career in banking which progressed to financial card services (including sales, manufacturing, and software) before becoming a corporate executive for multiple companies and ultimately branching out and starting his own software company. Throughout his entire career when he wasn’t learning he was teaching, mentoring those around him, providing encouragement, professional growth, personal development and invaluable support creating lifetime relationships.
Bill, Billy, Dad, Pop, My Beel or Mr. Lynch; no matter how you knew him or what you called him, he was larger than life and a champion of finding the good in people. A devout Catholic, he was committed to faith in prayer and found respite in the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was a connoisseur of witty jokes and a master storyteller, avid golfer, king chair napper, deep thinker, and party enhancer, who loved a good read and always had time for a stop at the Blarney Stone to visit with friends. He loved music, performing as lead singer in a band during his high school years, and learning to play the cello (affectionately named Esmerelda) later in life. On any given day he could be found spending time with his wife and best friend, Dana, in their home or down the shore, visiting with their children and grandchildren, or entertaining countless family, friends and neighbors. He was loved and known by all, never met a stranger and endeared himself to folks from all walks of life. Our eternal optimist and constant bringer of joy, he was always quick with a smile and a kind word, radiating positivity towards those around him. Even his prep school classmates remembered him fondly as having “malice towards none”. A conversation with Bill was an instant mood booster, which lifted your spirits and made you feel like you could take on the world.
We have all been immensely privileged to know and love Bill, his passing leaves an unfillable hole in thousands of hearts.
Family and friends are invited to his Visitation 6:00-9:00 PM on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Donohue Funeral Home (1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA) and 10:30-11:30 AM on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Saints Simon & Jude Church (8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA) followed by Mass at 11:30 AM.
