William J. Purcell, age 78, of Upper Darby, PA, passed away on August 19, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Bridget Purcell (nee Moran).
William was a graduate of St. Thomas More High School and St. Joseph University, both in Philadelphia. He was employed as a Software Testing Engineer with Computer Science Corporation in Mount Laurel, NJ. He retired in 2006.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna May Purcell (nee Celona), his loving sons Michael J. (Sandra), Brian W. (Ellen) and Mark S. (Sara) Purcell, his 5 grandchildren, his sisters Mary Green (the late George), Winifred McGovern (Charles) and Johanna Fuchs (William) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Monday, August 28, 2017 9:30-10:20 AM St. Laurence Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA and to his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
The Purcell family requests no flowers be sent and asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be offered in his memory to Cross Catholic Outreach, P.O. Box 97168, Washington, DC 20077-7798.
