It is with great sadness that the Stuhlman family announces the passing of their father William C. Stuhlman Sr. who passed away peacefully at the age of 97.
Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife Ann, who passed on March 21, 2020 at the age of 92, as well as his mother Mary, sister Dolly (Albert Cooley), son-in-law John Daggett and his youngest son Jimmy on March 12, 2015
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his children Andrea, Maureen, Donna Rose, Billy, Suzanne (Lou Iacovelli), Michael (Sheila), daughter-in-law Theresa, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Bill was born and raised in Philadelphia, attended St. Agatha’s grade school, St. Thomas More High School and St. Joseph’s University. He prided himself on the many jobs he held over the years, beginning delivering freshly baked bread via horse and wagon through the streets of Philadelphia (“luckily the horse knew the way”), to working for Uncle Sam in the Post Office, the Army Philadelphia Ordinance District and finally as a Marine Equipment Specialist at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
At 17 he became a proud Navy Seaman assigned to Landing Ship Tank (LST) 1060 and LST 1104 in Luzon, Philippines, Japan and Hawaii. One of his favorite stories was “running into” his lifelong friend Dan Horneman in the Philippines mess hall. When the Korean War started in 1949 his second stint in the Navy began when he trained in the Navy Flight School, Pensacola FL where he learned to fly and became an official “Airdale” or Navy Pilot.
Bill’s life was kept busy with family, friends and travelling the world, but mostly living happily in Havertown, PA with his wonderful wife Ann (Married Sep 29, 1951). When she passed (3/21/2020), Bill Sr. was lucky to live out his final golden years with his namesake Bill Jr.
A joint celebration of life/lives will be held for Bill and Ann as Ann’s was not properly celebrated due to Covid restrictions. Family, relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Bill & Ann’s lives:
